Film photography
In a world ruled by digital, shooting a wedding on 35mm film is an act of patience, artistry, and soul. Every frame matters. There’s no screen to check, no “delete and redo”; only the certainty that light, timing, and emotion came together in that unrepeatable moment.
Film has its own kind of magic: organic colors, gentle textures, and a depth you can’t manufacture—you can only feel. Developing each roll is like opening a time capsule: the smiles, the glances, the intertwined hands… all appear just as they were, with the beautiful imperfection that only analog can give.
Photographing a wedding on 35mm isn’t just documenting a day, it’s creating memories that breathe nostalgia and remain as authentic as the love they portray.
Take your time—these analog photographs are meant to be savored, not rushed.
Covering Ana Pau and José’s wedding was an exceptional challenge. Analog photography offers an unrepeatable opportunity, yet it also carries an inherent risk: there are no preview screens, no second chances, and no post-production corrections. It is an exercise that blends technique, artistic sensitivity, precision, and at times, a touch of chance.
The result exceeded my expectations. The colors and black-and-whites remain exactly as they were captured in the moment, without corrections or modifications. This achievement was possible thanks to a seamless collaboration that deserves recognition: from the suppliers of the finest film stocks, Kodak Portra, Fuji, and Ilford, to the logistics team that transported the rolls to Mexico City, where a specialized laboratory handled the developing and scanning. But above all, it was made possible by the trust the couple placed in my work.
For this occasion, I worked with a dual setup: two cameras mounted on a harness, one analog and one digital, alternating between them according to the rhythm of the event. This coordination would not have been possible without the collaboration of Helena Llum (@helenallum_), whose vision and talent were essential. While I immersed myself in the language of film, she documented digitally with the certainty and sensitivity needed to ensure that nothing was left out of the story.
These images go beyond documentation; they stand as a testament to the magic of 35mm film photography and to the passion that drives me to keep exploring this path. I trust that, as you look through them, you will feel the same authenticity and vitality that inspired me while creating them.
